Tax Practice of IIT Chicago-Kent College of Law
Dedicated Tax Attorneys Helping Clients Throughout Chicagoland and Beyond
The Tax Practice at IIT Chicago-Kent College of Law's mission is to provide the highest-quality legal services to individuals and businesses who are unable to afford the fees charged by traditional private law firms. Our focus is on middle-class taxpayers and small business men and women who demand superior, responsive, personalized and aggressive representation.
The practice is overseen by attorney Jonathan Decatorsmith, a 30-year tax law veteran who has represented both sides in IRS tax disputes. He spent 11 years working as a trial lawyer, legal advisor and internal instructor for the IRS Chief Counsel Office before becoming an outspoken advocate for individuals and businesses facing tax problems with inadequate resources. Decatorsmith is assisted by a top notch support staff. In addition to personally serving his individual and business clients, Mr. Decatorsmith supervises students enrolled in the Tax Clinic at IIT Chicago-Kent College of Law, training the tax controversy attorneys of tomorrow, and teaching a variety of doctrinal classes to domestic and international students.
